Interest in Pinterest

Pinterest is far too interesting! How many hours would it take to cruise through all great stuff people post there? I could spend entire days just looking at recipes. I created two boards in a very short time.... one about recipes and one about books and tea. All my favourite things.

Wordle

Wordle: Stuffies Oh my gosh!! Thanks to Julie, Connie and Patty I've finally managed to copy this Wordle picture to the Blog. It was easy to create the Wordle but I then needed a ton of help to get it into my Blog. This should have been a simple task but it wasn't as straight forward as I anticipated. I now have to print a copy for my daughter since she's the owner of the stuffed creatures mentioned in this exercise. She'll love it!

Cat and Computer

This is my chosen picture for "Thing 11".  I can relate to the way he/she just sits and stares in wonder at the screen.  I've found myself doing the same thing at times.

Lists in Vision

I've spent some time on Vision and created a list.  I'm also following a person who likes historical fiction.  I enjoyed their comments about Longbourn, a book I recently enjoyed.

I can see the value of creating a list and know several patrons who have little notebooks to track their reading.  It's hard to get people to trust the on-line services sometimes and not everyone, myself included, wants to share a lot of personal information. We old-fashioned types still value our privacy in some things.

Bragging on Twitter

I've just completed an up-date of the Twitter account I created 4 years ago and haven't looked at again until today.  I found it realtively easy to edit the old account but don't really understand the hashtag thing.  I'll have to spend more time on the site.  I'm now following CBC Books.

My Tweet was an opportunity to share that my neice, Elysia Guzik, has just had an article published in the Canadian Journal of Information and Library Science (volume 37,number4,December 2013).  I'm so proud of her!!  She's a PhD student at University of Toronto.  I like to think her visits to me at the library when she was a little girl inspired her own library career.  Who knows how we Storytime people can influence the lives of the children who attend our programs?!
